Paula Dyason ‘The day of the DayLily’ live lecture

This talk and all our lectures are FREE for Friends of the Botanical Gardens to attend. Members of the public are also welcome to join us on payment of £5 at the door on the day. Live talks are held in the Education Centre in the grounds of the Botanical Gardens - easily accessed via the Thompson Road Entrance.

Put aside any preconceived ideas you may have about your Great Great Granny's daylily - this talk is all about hot new varieties of daylillies (hemerocallis) in a huge array of forms, size and colours - from fiery hot to cool and serene.

Paula Dyason and husband Chris own and run the Strictly Daylilies Nursery near Cambridge where they are very active hybridizers, selecting for the UK climate. They have the National Collection of modern hemerocallis and two registered American Daylily Society Display Gardens.

Illustrated with images of some of the 2000+ cultivars of the daylilies they grow, they will share information about their hybridising program, plus tips on the planting and care of hemerocallis.

Paula is a retired Prothsodontist (35 years in the USA) and Strictly Daylilies was born in 2012, after a life long passion for hemerocallis. She is currently on the RHS Committee as a Forum member for hemerocallis AGM trials and is the only certified judge in the UK and one of only two outside of North America. Paula is also the American Daylily Society International Chair.
